SAR Youth Programs
The SAR is a historical, educational, and patriotic organization that focuses on the American Revolution. As a part of our educational outreach, the SAR conducts several programs across the country. Some of our most active programs are targeted to our future leaders, our children and those who are educators. Below you will find a list of the programs that the SAR runs, and a brief description of each. Click on the programs title to learn more about that particular program.
This contest is directed at students in the 3rd, 4th or 5th grades, depending on which grade year the American Revolution is taught in their educational system. The National Society Elementary School Poster Contest will stimulate interest in American History in support of the 3rd, 4th or 5th grade Grade Curriculum.
The SAR Middle School Contest is to Middle school students, including private, church based and home schooled students in the 6th, 7th, and 8th grades to create a tri-fold brochure out of a typical 8 1/2" x 11" piece of paper. The brochure must conform to the contest theme which is one of the five foundational documents of the United States - which you select.
The National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) invites all high school students (9th through 12th grades) interested in the American Revolution to participate in the George S. & Stella M. Knight Essay Contest. The contest is open to all US citizens and legal resident students attending home schools, public, parochial, or private high schools in that same grade range.

Contest is open to all students attending home schools, public, parochial, or private high schools who are in their freshman, sophomore, junior or senior (grades 9 through 12) year of study.
The Tom & Betty Lawrence American History Teacher Award winner will represent a teacher whose instruction on the Revolutionary War era from 1750 - 1800 demonstrates educational efforts in the classroom that exceed and excel above current, accepted, curriculum requirements.
Open to all Eagle Scouts who are currently registered in an active unit and have not reached their 19th birthday during the year of application. The year that Eagle was awarded is not restricted. Fifteen cash scholarship awards are given: Awards are as follows: National First Place Winner receives $10,000; 2nd Place – $6,000; 3rd Place – $4,000; 4th Place – $2,000; 5th Place – $1000; 6th thru 10th – $500; and 11th thru 15th – $200.
The Caleb White Memorial Fund was created to honor the brief life of our compatriot Caleb Benjamin White, who died tragically in October 2009, at the age of 21.
This fund provides scholarship money for all of the youth programs sponsored by the Marietta Chapter of the Society of the Sons of the American Revolution.
It is intended to promote in young people, the characteristics which Caleb exemplified:
Patriotism, love of American history, hard work, dedication, ingenuity, and compassion.
